Villager who drank six Yuengling beers arrested at Lake Sumter Landing

Stephen Leslie Barnhart

A 70-year-old Village of Summerhill man who admitted to consuming six Yuengling beers was arrested during a traffic stop at Lake Sumter Landing.

Stephen Leslie Barnhart had been at the wheel of a red Ford Mustang when he was pulled over Saturday night in front of City Fire after the sheriff’s office had received a complaint about a reckless driving leaving Circle K on County Road 466.

The deputy relocated Barnhart to a parking lot behind City Fire to conduct field sobriety exercises, which he failed. Barnhart, whose eyes were bloodshot, said he had been at the Circle K getting gas, prior to the traffic stop. Barnhart said he had consumed six Yuengling beers.

He provided breath samples that registered .042 and .040 blood alcohol content.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,000 bond.
