Shattered windshield leads to man’s arrest on charges of drug possession

A shattered windshield led to a man’s arrest on charges of drug possession in Lady Lake.

Nicholas Alan Johnson, 24, of Tavares, had been driving a car at about 5:30 p.m. Monday on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 when a police officer noticed the shattered windshield and initiated a traffic stop.

The officer discovered Johnson’s license had been suspended in November for failure to meet financial obligations. He was previously convicted of driving while license suspended in 2012.

A K-9 alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs.

A search turned up methamphetamine, Alprazolam and drug paraphernalia.

Johnson was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $6,000.
