General election ballots mailed to Marion County military and overseas voters

Marion County Supervisor of Elections Wesley Wilcox

The Marion County Supervisors of Elections office has started sending out vote-by-mail ballots for the general election to absent stateside uniformed and overseas voters (UOCAVA).

Supervisors of Elections offices in Florida are required to send those vote-by-mail ballots out no fewer than 45 days prior to a federal election. Marion County Supervisor of Elections Wesley Wilcox and his staff are sending the ballots to 495 voters who have requested them.

UOCAVA citizens include:
• Members of the Uniformed Services;
• Members of the Merchant Marines;
• Eligible family members of those listed above; and
• American citizens residing outside the U.S.

On Tuesday, Oct. 2, Wilcox’s office will begin mailing ballots to nearly 40,000 domestic voters who requested a mail ballot for the general election. Additional mail ballot requests will be fulfilled as received.

The deadline to request that a ballot be mailed for the general election is Oct. 31. To request a mail ballot, visit VoteMarion.com or call (352) 620-3290. Vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the Marion County Election Center no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
