Armed bandits who hit Villages restaurant on New Year’s Eve still on the loose

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies are searching for armed bandits who robbed the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s restaurant at Colony Plaza on New Year’s Eve.

Video surveillance footage shows armed bandits inside the Colony Plaza Beef ‘O’ Brady’s restaurant on New Year’s Eve.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the eatery, located at 353 Colony Blvd., shortly after 10 p.m. Monday in response to an armed burglary. The robbers, dressed in all black – including hoods hiding their faces – and carrying black handguns, entered the rear area of the restaurant and attempted to sneak through the kitchen without being spotted, a sheriff’s office report states.

But a member of the restaurant’s staff saw what was happening and alerted the other employees, who quickly vacated the building and fled to the nearby Publix grocery store to wait for law enforcement to arrive.

The Beef ‘O’ Brady’s at Colony Plaza in The Villages was targeted by robbers who made off with an undisclosed amount of money on New Year’s Eve.

Video surveillance footage from inside the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s shows the armed suspects going through the restaurant. One is seen taking an undisclosed amount of money from the bar area and putting it in a left rear pocket. And the robbers are shown exiting the building through the same rear door they came in through before leaving the area.

A K-9 search of the area failed to find the suspects. And no information is available on any type of vehicle that might have been used in the crime, the report says.

Anyone who knows the identity of the armed bandits or has any information about the case, #6415, is being asked to call (352) 793-2621. Tipsters also can call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477) and use the referenced case number.
