A driver whose license has been revoked for the past decade was nabbed by police after he was caught speeding in Wildwood.
Joel Alberto Martinez, 39, of Orlando, was caught on radar traveling at 44 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone at 7:29 p.m. Tuesday at Clay Drain Road and C Thomas Road behind Alliance Coach, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.
After he was pulled over, Martinez handed the police officer a Mexican Passport and a consulate ID. A check revealed that Martinez’s driver’s license has been revoked since Nov. 5, 2008 for driving under the influence with property/personal injury. The officer also found Martinez has been convicted three times for driving on a suspended or revoked driver’s license.
Martinez was arrested on a felony charge of driving while license suspended and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $5,000. He was also issued a written warning for speeding.
