To the Editor:
Governor DeSantis recently signed into law the READY Act, supporting early diagnosis in Floridians impacted by Alzheimer’s. However, we have so much more work left to be done at both the state and federal levels.
My wife, Gina, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2016 and we have both worked with the cause since then.
Much progress has been made in the fight against Alzheimer’s over the last decade, thanks in large part to the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA) and the Alzheimer’s Accountability Act (AAA). With both set to expire in 2025, updated legislation is critically needed.
I am asking Congressman Daniel Webster to join the Alzheimer’s Association in supporting H.R. 7775, NAPA and H.R. 7773, AAA.
NAPA would build on the progress made in research, clinical and long-term care and public awareness. AAA would ensure Congress is equipped with the best information to determine necessary Alzheimer’s research funding levels each year.
I am thankful to Congressman Webster for all the work he has done for this cause this Congress. I hope he will continue progress made, by supporting these two legislative priorities.
Congressman Webster understands the importance of these efforts since he has experienced Alzheimer’s in his family. Unfortunately, he has not yet signed these bills. I hope he will support us now, when we need it.
