The Dynamic Dog Club of the Villages presented their Tr-r-raveling Circus to a delighted audience at the Bonny Belles Social Club on Thursday at Churchill Street Recreation Center.  The dogs, all different varieties, entertained the crowd dancing, spinning, performing circus acts including a lion act. Keeping with the circus theme Bonnybrook resident Dotty Crain was the Ring Master. Thanks to a little pet paint golden retriever, Sam, performed as Tony the Tiger and with an added mane the very talented golden retriever Chloe became a lion, a very versatile performer during the circus.

Bonny Belles co-president Sandy Bansback said, “The circus was absolutely fantastic. It was a great show. I would highly recommend this show to any clubs looking for entertainment.”  All of the dogs performing with the circus are therapy dogs, registered nationally and insured. The Dynamic Dog group had been in service partnering with schools doing reading programs and performing dog parades to raise money for the Humane Society and like causes.  The circus idea came about when they needed to raise funds for their latest project, sponsoring a service dog for a veteran. The pure-bred golden retriever named Radar, is 12-weeks old and is currently being trained. Initial training is 18-months and then there is one-on-one training with the veteran that is selected to have the dog. The Dynamic Dog Club anticipates the needed funds to be about $3,000.

The performance of the circus, a fully scripted show with props, at the Bonny Belles Social Club was the circus’s second full performance. Attendees are asked to donate individually at the end of the show and encouraged to come up afterwards and visit with the dogs.

“We have fun doing it and we are raising money for a good cause,” said Marleen Wiggins, owner of Mickey Mouse, another versatile performer used in many of the circus acts. If you would like more information about the Tr-r-raveling Circus, contact Carmin 352-561-2345.
