A man who told police he was hungry was arrested after allegedly helping himself to cereal, milk, Rolaids and condoms at the Circle K in Lady Lake.

Jamie Joe Johnson, 23, of Fruitland Park, remained behind bars this weekend on $3,500 bond at the Lake County Jail.

He has been lodged there since his arrest May 11 by Lady Lake police.

Officers were called at about 6:15 to the service station to a report of a man wearing a black wig. He was found in the rear parking lot of the Circle K, holding a large Publix bag containing three ice cream sandwiches, a box of Lucky Charms cereal, a box of Rice Krispies, a Golden Graham snack bar, a pint of chocolate milk, two packs of Rolaids, a box of Lifestyle Condoms and a box of Circle K eye drops, according to an arrest report.

He said he was sorry and that he took the items because he was hungry.

A search also turned up methamphetamine and a glass pipe.

He was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and retail theft.
