Michael James McGowan, 40, of Belleview, who runs MJM Landscape and Hardscape, had been arrested in April after he reportedly took $8,000 from the Villages couple but never performed the work, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

However, this past month in Sumter County Court, the prosecutor’s office announced no information would be filed in the case. The case has been dropped and McGowan’s bond money refunded.

There have been more than 25 complaints filed against McGowan with Seniors vs. Crime.
