Woman seriously injured in crash at Marion Correctional Institution

A 50-year-old Ocala woman was seriously injured in a crash Saturday morning at the Marion Correctional Institution.

Janice Porter had been at the wheel of a 2015 Nissan Sentra at 11:45 a.m. and was approaching the tubular gate at the Marion Correctional Institution when she suffered a possible medical episode, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The vehicle struck the tubular gate and then proceeded to knock over a crash barrier.

Porter was transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

She is facing charges of driving while license suspended and no proof of insurance.
