Ocklawaha woman killed when SUV crashes into tree

An Ocklawaha woman was killed Friday afternoon when her SUV slammed into a tree off County Road 315 in Marion County.

Janice Carter, 72, was driving past NE 100th Street near Fort McCoy when her 2006 Toyota 4Runner suddenly veered off the roadway. It continued heading southeast on a sloped grassy shoulder before the SUV’s front end hit the tree, a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Those traveling behind Carter said her vehicle made a sudden move when it veered off the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
