Belleview man jailed after caught driving on permanently revoked license

Robert Thomas Williams

A Marion County sheriff’s sergeant arrested a Belleview man Monday afternoon after running his tag number and finding out he had a suspended license.

When the sheriff’s sergeant stopped the silver van in the 10200 block of S. U.S. Hwy. 27/441, 59-year-old Robert Thomas Williams told him he was going to jail for having a suspended driver’s license. A short time later, the sergeant confirmed Williams’ license was permanently revoked for four or more DUIs in the mid-1990s, a sheriff’s office report states.

Williams was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with driving while license suspended. He was held on no bond and is scheduled to appear in a Marion County courtroom on Nov. 1 to answer to the charge.
