The seventh week of Central Florida League softball saw Arden Jewelers retain
control of first place and Fross & Fross take second place.
Fross & Fross defeated Gators Brownwood 14-13 as the Gators’ comeback falls short.
The Gators were led by Jim Crabtree’s four hits. Charlie Clare had three hits, including a homer, to drive in three runs. Phil D’Adamo and Don Evans also had three hits. Frank Murth, Ken Atkinson, Chris Iorio, Mark Isom, and Bob Jacques contributed two hits each. Sub pitcher, Tony Prettitore, smacked two hits that drove in three runs. Fross & Fross, who were leading 9-8 going into the bottom of the sixth, scored five runs to go up by six runs going into the top of the seventh. Paul Robinson drove in the fifth run of the 6th with a single, following an intentional walk to Pat Perkins. Jack Nagle and pitcher, Tim Carroll, each had three hits for Fross. Adding a pair of hits were: Bob Holbert, Paul Robinson, Vinnie Stebbins, Manny Sanchez, Don Brozick, and John Wyks.
American Portfolio Mortgage helped Fross take over second place as they bested Paul Davis Restorations 17-8.
They were led by Howard Charney’s four hits. Adding three hits each for the winners were: Don Melcher, Rocky Spottswood, Duane Broschat, Jim Joseph, and Phil Palma. Ron Crane, George Kennedy, and Marty Berger drove in two runs each with two hits. John Leone contributed a three run homer in the seventh when Mortgage put up six runs. Paul Davis got three hits from George Pugh and John Barracato. Jim Moyer, Vic Nucatola, Jim Boerman, Mike Jeffries, and Bob Kelly each stroked two hits in the loss.
Humana got off to a slow start; but, held Palm Ridge Dental scoreless for the last four innings and came away the winners 13-8.
Humana had three hits from Kevin Moore and John VanArnhem. Sub, John Ambrose, had a two run homer in the fourth. Bob Roth, Art Anton, Pete Rose, and Dave Hinkley each smashed two hits. Palm Ridge had a pair of hits by Ray Warter, Conrad Strassle, Don WInstead, Stan Kozlowski, Ken Scanlon, and, George Loew.
Babiarz Law came up with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Synergy Wealth.
Synergy scored five runs in the first two innings and one in the seventh. Jim Creed had a pair of doubles and a 2 run homer to lead Synergy. Ray Bedford , Vernon Brooks, and, sub, Paul Schaeffer each stroked a pair of hits. Babiarz got three hits from Jim Wiegand and a pair each from Ed Moriarity, Ken Link, Rick Murgittroyd, Craig Dahlquist, and Duane Miller. Wiegand had the walk off single to win the game.
Arden Jewelers continued to win as they scored in every inning to beat IHOP 18-12.
The Jewelers were led by John Ashby’s four hits. Adding thee hits apiece were: Maury Fjestad, Bill Sass, Jim White, Peter Daub, and Gary Lewis. White had a two run homer in the fourth. IHOP had a pair of hits from: Gary Roth, Mike Raines, Mike Bernbach, and Josh Sheldon. Sheldon had a triple to drive in three runs. Bill Reed had three hits driving in two runs. Pitcher, Neil Marple, had a triple to drive in two runs.
