90-year-old Villager at wheel of car which struck lawnmower near Morse Gate

A Florida Highway Patrol report details the collision late Wednesday afternoon involving a lawn mower and two cars near the Morse Gate off County Road 466.

Bobby Wayne Masters, 30, of Ocala, who is employed by The Shepherds Landscaping LLC, was on the lawn mower a 3:32 p.m. traveling eastbound across Morse Boulevard when he attempted to maneuver between lanes of traffic, according to an accident report from FHP. He did not see a 2014 Kia Soul driven by 90-year-old Raymond William Hass of The Villages.

A 90-year-old Villager was at the wheel of this vehicle when it struck a lawnmower near the Morse Gate.

His vehicle struck the mower and it then struck a 2018 Hyundai Sonata driven by 61-year-old Cindy Grossman of The Villages.

Hass could not maintain control of his vehicle and it wound up on the median. The vehicle’s airbag deployed in the collision.

Masters was transported by ambulance to the Summerfield ER.

Hass was not injured. Grossman and her passengers, Villagers Kenneth and Caroline Hoffman, also escaped injury.

The operator of the lawnmower was ticketed.
