Charles Edwin Stitzel

Charles “Charlie” Edwin Stitzel, age 69, of The Villages, Florida passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired veteran of The United States Navy where he served 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Helen; son James; sister Suzan (Rudy); brother Larry (Regina) and his little dog Buddy. He is preceded in death by his parents “Kitty” and “Eddy” Stitzel.

Charlie loved his family and friends dearly and they loved him.  He was known for his sarcasm and quick wit, but also as someone willing to do anything for a friend in need. He was an avid golfer, a huge sports fan and was especially passionate about his Washington Redskins.

A memorial service will be held in Virginia at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to: New Covenant UMC, 3470 Woodbridge Dr., The Villages, FL 32162

Arrangements are under the care of the Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, The Villages.
