High-speed golf carts

To the Editor:

Has the Villages became a safe haven for those with high-speed golf carts? Have lived in the Villages for 15 years, I noticed the number of high-speed golf carts has quadrupled over the years and nothing has been done to curb them down.
Although it is none of my business, I had some encounters with them that were driven in a unsafe manner, including one near head-on crash because the driver wanted to pass all normal speed golf carts, forcing me off the multi-modal path.
Don’t flame me back with hostile intentions because Florida law specifically states that golf carts cannot be modified to go more than 20 mph.
