Head-on collision halts traffic on Micro Racetrack Road

A head-on collision Sunday afternoon halted traffic on Micro Racetrack Road.

The two vehicles collided at about 12:15 p.m. on Micro Racetrack Road about midway between its intersections with Lake Ella Road and County Road 466A.

Emergency personnel were on the scene of the crash Sunday afternoon on Micro Racetrack Road.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Lake County Fire Rescue and EMS were summoned to the scene of the crash between a mini-van and a luxury SUV.

Traffic from both ends of Micro Racetrack Road was blocked as a result of the collision.

A nearby resident said she heard the sound of the vehicles colliding from inside her home. The longtime resident said the traffic on the roadway has gotten heavier and heavier – and more dangerous – through the years. Micro Racetrack Road is a popular bypass around The Villages.
