His vehicle left the roadway, hit a speed limit sign and continued to accelerate, the FHP report indicated. The SUV struck the golf cart and Von Nostitz and a passenger, 68-year-old Marsha K. Eger of Trumansburg, N.Y., fell out. They were not wearing seatbelts, the report indicated. Von Nostitz was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital where she later died. The driver of the Cadillac SUV has been identified as 58-year-old David Martin McCurry of Fruitland Park. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital. A passenger in the SUV, Valanna S. McCurry, 64, of Fruitland Park, escaped injury.

Brian David Williams, 38, of Wildwood, suffered serious injuries when he was struck by the golf cart as a result of the collision with the SUV. He had been jogging on the multi-modal path. Williams serves as worship pastor of Heritage Community Church in Fruitland Park.

Another golf cart, driven by Kevin Earl Bruce, 62, of The Villages had been in the vicinity when the SUV left the roadway. In his rearview mirror, Bruce saw the SUV hit the speed limit sign and heading in his direction. He was able to take evasive action and escaped injury.

Emergency personnel raced to the accident scene and put up yellow tape while the investigation took place. They were at the site, on CR466A across from Colony Cottage Recreation Center, for more than six hours.
