A 77-year-old Villager has been ordered to stay away from drugs and alcohol during a six-month term of probation following his arrest last month.

John Bynum Raynolds was arrested in February at his home in the Village of Hemingway after Sumter County sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance. Deputies found the home in disarray and Raynolds in the garage. They found a pipe with the burnt residue of marijuana, which Raynolds admitted was his.

On March 10 in Sumter County Court, Raynolds pleaded guilty to charges of possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was sentenced to six months probation and ordered to stay away from drugs and alcohol during his probationary period. He was also fined $250.

He had no prior arrest record.
