Beverly Chamberlain

Beverly Chamberlain
Beverly Chamberlain

Beverly Ann Chamberlain, wife and mother, medical assistant, church secretary, baker, newspaper columnist and jack of all trades, a 15-year resident of the Palo Alto Community in The Villages, died in the hospital surrounded by loved ones on March 30, 2017 at the age of 80. Beverly is survived by her husband, Richard (Dick) Chamberlain; her children, Denise (Chamberlain) Addis and son-in-law Raymond, Richard Chamberlain, Ronald Chamberlain and daughter-in-law Nasrin Ghalyaie; her grandchildren, Matthew Addis, Michael Addis, Courtney Chamberlain, Taylor Chamberlain, Riley Chamberlain, Charli Chamberlain and Caleb Chamberlain; and her sister, Janice Baker. She is predeceased by her parents, Roy and Letha Henderson. Bev was born in Derry, Pennsylvania on July 3, 1936 to Roy and Letha Henderson. She was the oldest of two children and grew up in a small Norman Rockwell American town. She met her husband of 58 years when she was 4 years old, and both of them were among the 32 graduates of Derry High School in 1954. Bev made her best life decision on June 20, 1959 when she married her sweetheart and soul mate, Richard “Dick” Chamberlain. The two would initially reside in Arlington, VA where they would welcome their first child, Denise (Chamberlain) Addis on May 2, 1960. True Pennsylvanians they returned home where Dick pursued a career in accounting, and Bev served her family and the community in too many ways to mention. On February 7, 1964, Bev gave birth to two twin boys, Richard and Ronald Chamberlain. Her family now complete, she focused her devotion and energy on her husband and her children until the very end. Bev was a devoted mother and wife, and active in many organizations and civic activities. She enjoyed reading, and prior to moving to the Villages donated her life collection of more than 2,500 books to the local library. From leading parent/teacher organizations, serving as church secretary for over a decade, writing an “all about life” column for the local newspaper, and keeping her kids grounded and growing in the right direction, Bev did it all. She was a problem-solver, who took on the difficult and detailed tasks or chores that few wanted, and for which she sought no notoriety or recognition. At 50, she started a new career and received an Associate degree before starting work as a Medical Assistant – medicine was something she always loved. While her life was graceful, and blessed, her best years were the last 15 she spent in the Villages, tending to her true love (Dick), visiting with her children and grandchildren, and hosting her innumerable friends who blessed her life and her journey.
