Man who fell asleep on child care duty arrested after toddler spotted walking on Griffin View Drive

Cerontae Ashard Robinson

A man who reportedly fell asleep on child care duty was arrested after a toddler was spotted walking on Griffin View Drive in Lady Lake.

The child had been spotted at about 12:30 p.m. Friday walking on the busy roadway.

A Lady Lake police officer drove up and down Alma Street and located an individual who had a cell phone number for the child’s mother. The mother told police that 22-year-old Cerontae Ashard Robinson was supposed to be watching the child while she was at work.

Police went to 409 Alma St. and noted the odor of marijuana coming from the home. Police knocked on the doors of the home, but did not get an answer. When the mother arrived on the scene and allowed police to enter the residence, Robinson was taken into custody on a charge of child neglect.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $2,000 bond.
