Sumter County Sheriff’s Office seeks help in naming new Bloodhound puppy

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is looking to residents to help name a Bloodhound puppy that has joined the force.

The new K-9 is a 16-week old male Bloodhound puppy from Mayo Correctional Institute. Over the next nine to 12 months, he will go through extensive training learning tracking and scent detection before joining fellow Bloodhounds, Dallas and Libby, on the trail.

A Bloodhound puppy is the newest member of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office is launching a social media campaign on its Facebook page and are asking the public to help name the new puppy.

The sheriff’s office will post pictures of the puppy and ask participants to comment, private message or email their name choice. Suggestions will be accepted until Nov. 10.  The winner will be announced on Nov. 15.
