A 27-year-old woman who allegedly attempted to steal nearly $500 worth of eyewear told law enforcement she did not know why she did it.
Brooke N. Baisden of Groveland entered the Optical Outlets store at Village Crossroads in Lady Lake on Tuesday afternoon and picked up eyeglasses valued at $269.95 and $229.95 and put them in her purse, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
She told a police officer “that it isn’t usually like her to steal things and doesn’t know why she did it,” the arrest report said.
She was found to be in possession of .88 grams of Alprazolam bars for which she did not have a prescription and 1.14 grams of marijuana.
She was booked at the Lake County Jail on $6,000 bond.
