Villager issued written warning after unvaccinated cat caught running loose

A Villager was issued a written warning after his unvaccinated cat was caught running loose in the Village of El Cortez.

The two-year-old Siamese cat named Jasmine was caught and impounded Monday by Lady Lake Animal Control. The cat did not have a collar or any type of ID. The cat was scanned and a microchip was detected. The chip was tracked back to Marion County Animal Services. Animal services indicated the cat had been adopted by a Villager and provided his information to Lady Lake Animal Control.

The Villager, armed with the cat’s medical records, on Tuesday went to reclaim his cat. However, his records indicated the cat’s rabies vaccine had recently expired.

The Villager was issued a written warning and told to get the cat vaccinated within 10 days.
