Emergency personnel rush to Winifred pool after man found unresponsive

Emergency personnel responded Saturday morning to the pool and postal station in the Village of Winifred after a Villager was found unresponsive.

The man, identified as Allen Farwell, apparently died of natural causes. No foul play is suspected.

Farwell had just returned to The Villages on Monday. He and his wife, Carol, had just spent the summer up in Pelham, N.H.

At about 10 a.m., personnel from the Villages Public Safety Department, Rural/Metro Ambulance and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Farwell’s wife said her husband had gone out for a walk. He was said to be in reasonably good health, and was planning to go golfing with his wife and another couple that afternoon.

The couple has three grown children residing in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
