Lady Lake man airlifted from scene of accident in Marion County

A 23-year-old Lady Lake man was airlifted from the scene of an accident Sunday night in Marion County.

The man, who suffered critical injuries, had not been identified pending notification of next of kin. He is a patient at Ocala Regional Medical Center.

He had been driving a 2012 Ford F350 at 7:50 p.m. Sunday when his vehicle collided with 2001 Chevy S10 driven by Richard Summers of Ocklawaha, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision occurred at Southeast 108th Terrace Road south of Southeast 105th Street. After the collision, Summers’ vehicle struck a tree. The Lady Lake man’s vehicle sheered through a utility pole before striking a dirt berm and tree. It when went airborne and flipped onto its roof, the FHP report indicated.

Summers and an unidentified female passenger were taken by ambulance to Munroe Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries they suffered in the crash.
