Pickup truck leaves roundabout, strikes palm tree at Brownwood

A pickup truck left a roundabout and struck a palm tree early Sunday morning near Brownwood.

The 2002 Dodge pickup driven by 29-year-old Earl Richard Albert of Leesburg had been traveling northbound and going through the roundabout at about 3 a.m. on South Buena Vista Boulevard and East Torchlake Drive when Albert sped up and then lost control of the vehicle, according to an accident report from the Wildwood Police Department. The truck hit a palm tree located in the median and traveled 50 more feet before stopping on South Buena Vista Boulevard, the report indicated.

Albert escaped injury, but the pickup truck had to be towed from the scene.
