Vernon Alexander Moore, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2016 in his home in Sunset Pointe, The Villages. He was surrounded by family who loved him dearly. Husband of Herta Maria Moore, they shared 32 years of marriage together.
Born in Alexandria, VA, Mr. Moore was the son of Randolph Milton Moore and Julia E. Moore. He worked as a foreman for Robinson Terminal Warehouse Corporation for over 20 years and drove tractor trailers throughout his life, and into retirement. After truly beginning his retirement in 2005, Mr. Moore and his wife moved from Dale City, Virginia to The Villages, Florida where they spent the last 11 years enjoying The German Club, their bowling team, attending Bingo nights, and salsa dancing. They enjoyed traveling – both through Europe and the United States – cruises to Alaska and the Bahamas – and regular ramblin’ gamblin’ trips to casinos from Lake Tahoe to Las Vegas to Atlantic City – most of them comped because the casinos wanted some of their money back.
Mr. Moore is survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters – Randy, Donald, Joe, Jody, Shirley and Terry. He is also survived by 2 daughters and 3 sons: Marion, Verna, Michael, Boone, and Randy, who provided him with 13 adoring grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Beyer’s Funeral Home Chapel, Lady Lake, FL, on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 2 p.m.
