A cleaning lady was jailed after she allegedly stole an 18-karat gold ring with five stones from a woman in the Village of Sunset Pointe.

Abigail Lorraine Bowles, 21, of Summerfield, is facing a felony charge of grand theft following her arrest Tuesday morning by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies. The ring was valued at $5,500. She is also suspected of stealing a 14-karat gold tennis bracelet worth $2,200. The homeowner who lives on Baylor Place told deputies that Bowles has been cleaning her house for several months and had full access to it.

Bowles allegedly pawned the ring Sept. 29 at Belleview Pawn.

In an interview with deputies, Bowles admitted to stealing the ring. Bowles stated she also stole the tennis bracelet that was missing. She said she stole it back in July. She admitted to pawning both items for cash. She stated she is “struggling to survive” and needed money and she was extremely sorry for stealing the items, the arrest report indicated.

She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,000 bond.
