A 58-year-old Wildwood man was arrested after he allegedly set a fire in the flower bed of the Walgreens at Pinellas Plaza in The Villages.

James Tyrone Eadie rode a bicycle to the store at about 5 p.m. Wednesday and dumped burning tobacco from his pipe, igniting a fire in the flower bed, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

There were flames and smoke visible while Eadie was there, “leaving no doubt” he had done so intentionally, the report said.

Six to eight shrubs were damaged. The incident was captured by surveillance cameras. An officer was able to identify Eadie from the footage and Eadie was arrested at his home on Debbie Street on a charge of criminal mischief. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $500 bond.

Shrubs were burned in the incident Wednesday at Walgreens at Pinellas Plaza.
