Leon V. Boyer, 76, of Wildwood, FL, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016. Mr. Boyer was born July 1, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA to Earl and Katherine Boyer. He was Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Navy submarine squad. Leon moved here in 1974 from Pinellas County and retired from Florida Power in 2000. Leon was the Boy Scout Master for Troop 354 in Coleman for many years and had received the distinguished Silver Beaver award for his many years of service. While being the Scout Master he helped many boys grow into being good men and citizens with well over a dozen of these young men achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Leon was a former member of Shady Brook Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling after he retired. Survivors include his children, David Leon Boyer (Anita) of Blairsville, GA, John Christopher Boyer and his fiancé Kelli Gore of Houston, TX and Jason Dale Boyer (Heather) of Newcastle, WY; brother, Earl Boyer, Jr (Tomiko) of Everett, WA; twelve grandchildren: Melissa, Jessica, Becky, Breanna, Kelsee, Justin, Wyatt, Cody, Jacob, Kiersten, Merritt and Nathina; eight great-grandchildren: Devin, Eli, Haylee, Ethan, Delliah, Ariella, Ryleigh and Brynleigh and many nieces and nephews. Leon was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris on January 29, 2016.
