Bogus $100 bill leads to arrest at Family Dollar store in Wildwood

Herbert Mickler Dyal III

A man who attempted to pass a bogus $100 bill was arrested Tuesday night at the Family Dollar store in Wildwood.

Herbert Mickler Dyal III, 27, of Summerfield, entered the store at about 8 p.m. and attempted to pass the bill, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. The store’s manager realized the bill was fake due to the “look and feel of it,” the arrest report said. A customer had passed another counterfeit $100 bill with the same serial number earlier in the day.

Dyal claimed he had received the $100 bill after performing yard work for a man named “Bill.”

He was arrested on a charge of fraud and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $2,000.
