Problem at gates in The Villages

To the Editor:

There is an ongoing problem with vehicles knocking down village gates and creating expensive repairs. How about adding some type of lights to the gates, like rope lights?
A gated community near my son’s home in Orlando has red lights on their entry gates, green lights on the exit gates. A nice feature for night driving entering or exiting a village. In the last two weeks, the gates at Sanibel have been hit, and the exit gate knocked down as recently as Wednesday.
