Man wanted on multiple felony warrants jailed after found hiding in closet

Lester Savage

A man wanted on multiple felony warrants was jailed after he was found hiding in a closet.

Leesburg police on Saturday afternoon went to a home at 2024 Butler St. looking for Lester William Savage, 57, of Fruitland Park. He was wanted on warrants charging him with violation of probation for burglary and trafficking in stolen property, as well as grand theft and falsification of ownership to a pawnbroker.

The home on Butler Street was searched by a K-9 unit after a woman at the home granted access to law enforcement. The K-9 found Savage hiding behind clothing in a closet. He was taken into custody and booked without bond at the Lake County Jail.

Savage had been arrested earlier this year after he stole a woman’s $1,000 ring and pawned it for $50.
