15 executive golf courses in The Villages currently closed due to excessive rain

Fifteen executive golf courses in The Villages are currently closed due to excessive rain.
Director of Executive Golf Mitch Leininger on Wednesday morning provided the Amenity Authority Committee with an update on course closings. Courses currently closed are:
• Chula Vista
• Mira Mesa
• Heron
• Pelican
• Volusia
• Oakleigh
• Sweet Gum
• Mangrove
• Palmetto
• Turtle Mound
• Sandhill
• Bonita Pass
• Amberwood
• Hilltop
• Silver Lake
Leininger, who came aboard in May, described a stubborn weather pattern that continues to dump excessive rain on the The Villages. The heavy rain can make overseeing the golf courses a daunting task.
He pointed to the recent closure and reopening of the Bogart Executive Golf Course as a success. “Before” and “after” photos he showed to the ACC revealed a marked improvement at the course.
“Sometimes it just takes time,” Leininger said.
