Robert Sterrett Weals, 88 years old, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 24th, 2022. Bob was born to Ernest and Adella Weals on April 26th, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He grew up in western Pennsylvania and spent many summers at Lakeside, Ohio, where he met his wife, Shirley Ann Henderson, in 1951.

Bob attended Mount Union College from 1951-1955 and earned a BA in Education. Shortly after college graduation Bob and Ann were married on September 2, 1955. They resided in central Ohio until relocating to The Villages, Florida in August 1998. Bob was a teacher, guidance counselor, and administrator in the Columbus City School District, earning two master’s degrees at The Ohio State University during his 34-year career in education. Bob was an active member in the South Columbus Optimist Club. He and Ann were members of the Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church and joined the Northlake Presbyterian Church after moving to Florida.

Throughout his life Bob participated in many sports. He enjoyed golf, softball, swimming, and boating. As a youth Bob enjoyed sailing on Lake Erie. He took great pride in earning the rank of an Eagle Scout. He was a faithful fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. His love of poetry, Broadway musicals, and gardening was contagious. While in Florida, he delivered Meals on Wheels. Bob loved family and friends; he lived life to the fullest. He was a generous man of strong conviction and faith. His compassionate and beautiful soul will be deeply missed.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife of nearly sixty-four years, Shirley Ann, and his parents, Ernest and Adella Weals. He is survived by his children Susan Martin (Chip), Robert Weals (Doris), David Weals (Diana), John Weals (Amy), sister Ann Orgill Delo, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
