Four golf carts snatched this month from Spanish Springs

Four golf carts have been stolen thus far this month from Spanish Springs.

As he does frequently, Villager James Watson parked his golf cart Jan. 12 at Spanish Springs Lanes on Alverez Avenue. While he was using a company vehicle for his job making the rounds at ATMs for Citizens First Bank, his 2005 Yamaha golf cart was stolen. The gas-powered brown golf cart with a tan-colored awning and cloth seats is reportedly valued at $4,000.

A snowbird from Ohio had her golf cart stolen Jan. 16 when it was parked in the lot at TooJay’s Gourmet Deli. Teresa Ann Burner from Uniontown, Ohio, who also owns a home in The Villages, left her golf cart parked at about 6:30 p.m. and when she returned for it shortly before 8 p.m., her beige 2013 Yahama golf cart had vanished. Her cart is valued at $7,000.

On Jan. 2, Billy Guiter of the Village of Mira Mesa had driven his electric blue-and-white EZ-GO golf cart to Spanish Springs Town Square. Guiter, who has lived in The Villages for 25 years, parked the electric 2010 Freedom RX7 golf cart behind La Reina building near a dumpster.

“When I came back, it was gone,” he said.

His cart is valued at $9,000.
