A 28-year-old man arrested on a drunk driving charge after a crash on County Road 466 told police he only drank two beers at Bonefish Grill prior to the accident.

Lady Lake police responded to the crash early Sunday morning between the Lake North Apartments and Oakleaf Village Apartments. As a police officer approached the 2014 Lincoln MKZ, the driver identified as Ryan Scott Gregg, who resides at the Oakleaf Village Apartments, got out of the vehicle. He told police he had crashed into the curb, according to an arrest report. Gregg was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and there was an odor of alcohol emanating from his breath, the arrest report said.

When an officer asked Gregg to take a seat in his vehicle, Gregg said, “I’m not getting back in there.” He grabbed the keys to the car and his cell phone and threw them onto the driver’s seat.

The officer asked Gregg if he had had anything to drink and Gregg replied, “Yes.” The officer asked Gregg if he would take part in field sobriety exercises, and Gregg responded, that he wouldn’t do anything until his lawyer was present.

Gregg provided breath samples that registered .337, .290 and .322 blood alcohol content. The report noted that Gregg “had a visibly hard time blowing forcefully and for a long enough duration to obtain a minimum required sample size.”

After he was read his Miranda Warning, Gregg said he had consumed two beers at Bonefish Grill and did not feel he was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

He was booked on a charge of driving under the influence at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
