Member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer band coming to Villages for Parrot Heads fund-raiser

Mac McAnally, longtime member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, appears Monday, May 1 at 7 p.m. at the Savannah Center.
The show is in support of The Villages Parrot Head Club.

McAnally has been voted CMA Musician of the Year and is a member of the Nashville Songwriters’ Hall of Fame,  and the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame.
The man known as Mac wrote several No. 1 hits, beginning with Alabama’s “Old Flame.”
He is a master storyteller, and introduces each song with anecdotes, describing how the songs came to be and how they have impacted his life.
McAnally’s songwriting drew the attention of Jimmy Buffett and Hank Williams, Jr., both of whom recorded his songs. Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band, and Brad Paisley are some of the artists who also recorded his work.

McAnally has also produced such artists as Ricky Skaggs, Chris LeDoux and Little Feat. He produced the band Sawyer Brown through their biggest successes and penned their signature hits including “Cafe On The Corner,” “All These Years” and “Thank God For You.”
He joined Buffett’s touring Coral Reefer band, and has also produced several of Buffett’s albums and written many of his songs.
