A 57-year-old man was arrested after an alleged altercation over a “liquor run” in the Village of Amelia.

Eric Wayne Barrow had been drinking liquor at a home on Harston Trail on Friday afternoon when he asked a woman to make a “liquor run,” according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

She refused and Barrow knocked a tray of sandwiches out of her hands and grabbed her by the throat, according to the report.

Barrow denied anything had happened.

A criminal history check revealed that Barrow had been arrested on a charge of battery in 2012, but was not convicted.

He was arrested on a charge of battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released at 9 p.m. Saturday after posting $1,000 bond.
