Leesburg Regional Medical Center has opened a new temporary walkway that will enable patients and family members to easily and quickly access the Emergency Department during construction. Emergency Department access will still be available through the main hospital entrance, but the new walkway provides a faster alternative.
The Emergency Department expansion project at LRMC is on schedule to be completed in the spring of 2018. The hospital’s Emergency Department sees nearly 47,000 people each year and that number is growing as the community grows.
The $29 million expansion will nearly double the size of the current emergency room, adding 24 patient beds along with a Fast Track unit that can accommodate pediatric patients, three to four trauma-sized rooms for critical care treatment, a spacious waiting room and atrium-like lobby.
