Passenger suffers traumatic injury in golf cart crash at Morse Boulevard roundabout

A passenger who had been riding in a golf cart was trauma alerted to Ocala Regional Medical Center after a collision Monday morning at the Morse Boulevard roundabout at Paige Place and El Camino Real.

Witnesses said the driver was looking in a different direction when the golf cart struck a heavy traffic bollard.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital. The driver was ticketed on a charge of for careless driving.

Two people were injured in a golf cart crash Monday morning at the Morse Boulevard roundabout.

The windshield of the golf cart popped out in the collision.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Sumter County EMS and the Villages Public Safety Department responded to the scene of the accident

In 2014, Villager Larry Grimes called for change at the Morse roundabout after he was seriously injured when his golf cart was involved in an accident at the same location. He suffered  a concussion and three fractured ribs. He said the large, heavy bollards, intended to prevent misguided automobile drivers from entering the multi-modal path, were a danger to golf carts.
