Villager distracted by bird ticketed after collision on Rolling Acres Road

A Villager who said she was distracted by a bird was ticketed after a collision Tuesday morning on Rolling Acres Road, near its intersection with County Road 466.

Loraine C. Moreland, 68, had been at the wheel of a Mercury Sable at 9:52 a.m. when her vehicle rear-ended a 2016 four-door Cadillac driven by 65-year-old Diane Marie McCrone of The Villages, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Moreland said she had lost sight of the road momentarily when a bird flew in front of her.

She was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
