Gov. Rick Scott’s visit to The Villages, scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 20 has been canceled.
He will be in South Florida to attend funerals of some of those students slain, last week, at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneham Douglas High School.
No rescheduled date for the ceremony at The Villages has been announced.
The governor had planned to honor veterans and Gold Star families and present each with a Governor’s Veterans Service Award medal. This would have been his fourth visit to The Villages to officiate at these recognition events.
More than 500 tickets had been distributed. On Monday, Villages Entertainment staff was attempting to inform all ticket holders of the change in plans.
