Michigan man wants handgun of deceased Stonecrest mother to be destroyed

A Michigan man seeking to having a handgun destroyed sought help from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

The man told a sheriff’s detective at the South Marion District Office, located at 8230 SE 165th Mulberry Ln. in The Villages, that his mother, a resident of Stonecrest, recently died and left him the black Walther P38 9mm pistol.

The 54-year-old man, who lives in Canton, Mich., said he didn’t want the gun and would prefer to have it destroyed, a sheriff’s office report states.

The detective accepted the handgun and placed into evidence at the South Marion District Office for destruction, the report says.
