Michael ‘Mike’ Spalding

Michael “Mike” Spalding, age 71, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018. He was born in New York City, NY on June 6, 1947.

Mike served in the U.S Marines during the Vietnam era. He retired from the New York City Police Department as Sergeant. He also worked for New York Telephone Co., Port Authority Police, North Salem Police and the Federal Marshalls. He was a member of several organizations including Marine Corp League, 1013 Club, Fraternal Order of Police, ELKS, K of C, American Legion, AOH, Irish Clubs, The Branchers and CERT’s. Mike enjoyed water volleyball, stick ball, softball, golf and watching old western shows.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Spalding; son Michael Spalding of Croton, NY; sister Patricia Kitson of Bronx, NY; several neices, nephews and god children. He was preceded in death by his parents Sidney and Mary Spalding and brother John Spalding.

A visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd, The Villages, FL on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial Service will be celebrated at St. Mark The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 7081 SE Highway 42, Summerfield, FL on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association.
