Man with marijuana arrested in stolen vehicle at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza

A man with marijuana was arrested in a stolen vehicle at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages.

A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday spotted the gray SUV at U.S. 301 and County Road 466. A check of the license plate revealed it had been reported stolen.

A traffic stop was initiated in the Wal-Mart parking lot. The driver was identified as 41-year-old Christopher Howard Lea, of Summerfield.

He was found to be in possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license. He had previously been convicted of driving while license suspended.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $11,000.
