The Sharon has ‘decided to postpone’ its reopening

The surging Coronavirus in Florida continues to play havoc with entertainment schedules in The Villages.

The Sharon recently announced it has “decided to postpone” its reopening due to concerns over “safety for our patrons.”

Among the shows canceled were Victory Productions’ “Summer in Residence” performances from July to Aug. 4. Shows included: “Murder for Two,” “Nashville Hurricane,” and “I Do! I Do!”

Victory Productions also had to cancel its “Open Air Concert Series” July 20-25 at The Villages Polo Club.

The list of performers included country singer Clint Black along with tribute acts for the Bee Gees and Queen, as well as the Four Seasons tribute act, Atlantic City Boys.

The Paisans Club had hoped to host a live show with Tommy Mara and the Crests on July 19 in the Sea Breeze Recreation Center.

“Unfortunately, due to CDC government regulations, this show had to be canceled,” said Jerry Vicenti, president of the Paisans Club. He told club members to “stay healthy, stay happy, stay safe because one of these days we’ll be together again just like a family.”

The Orange Blossom Opry, in Weirsdale, is still scheduled to open — according to its ticket office — on July 23, featuring an “all-star jam.”
The Opry Band is scheduled to play on Friday nights, starting July 24. Special shows will be held on Saturdays, starting July 25 through Aug. 15.
