Melvin Joseph Burre

Melvin Joseph Durre (74) of Fruitland Park, FL passed away at his home September 1, 2021. He was born to Melvin A. and Elsie Schaidle Durre August 27, 1947 in Streator, IL.

Melvin is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary A. McKinney Durre; his children, Cheryl A. Schofield (James) of Fruitland Park, FL, James A. Durre (Susan) of Fruitland Park, FL and Diane M. DeNicola (Anthony) of Fruitland Park, FL. He was blessed with grandchildren Nicole Walters (Brady), Alexandra Schofield (Jim Briggs), Jared DeNicola and Joseph Crisp, as well as great-grandchildren, Hannah and Lily Walters and Wyatt Briggs. He is also survived by brothers, Roger and Marvin (Patricia) Durre, sister, Karen Florey, his sister in law, Judith Durre, and the children of his lifelong friends, Christine Parker and Steven Plymale. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Durre.

Melvin was an electrician, by trade, working his entire career at Caterpillar Inc. He loved machines, but had a special passion for classic cars, restoring and enjoying them. He and Mary also enjoyed extended traveling after retirement. He is known as a hard worker, but his number one focus was his family. He has left many memories and will be sorely missed.

There will be a gathering wake at the Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg, FL on September 9, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on September 10, 2021 at 8:30am at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Leesburg, FL. Because of his deep love for his four fur-babies, donations can be made to Puffy Paws Kitty Haven in Edgewater, FL.
