A woman was arrested after she was found hanging around outside the Publix grocery store at Magnolia Plaza in The Villages.

Krystal Barnett, 59, was found in the wee hours Thursday morning sitting at a table at the Publix store near the Everglades Recreation Center, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. She told a police officer she had been involved in an argument with a male companion who left her in the grocery store parking lot.

She was in possession of a red and black Husky backpack and she gave the police officer permission to search it. The officer found that it contained a white crystalline powder identified as methamphetamine.

Barnett has history of arrests here in The Villages:

• She was arrested on a charge of disorderly intoxication May 30 at the Tate Gregory Villas. She said she had been “kicked out” of the home due to an argument she had with a male occupant. An officer attempted to make contact with the man, but he would not come to the door, the report said. Barnett, who had a half empty bottle of vodka in her backpack, said she had no other place to stay.

• Barnett was arrested last year after an attack on personnel at UF Health-The Villages Hospital.

After Thursday’s arrest on a felony charge of drug possession, she was booked on $5,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
